Danceworks/Central Alberta Dance Festival (CADF) has been celebrating dance since 1980, making us the 2^nd longest running Dance Festival/Competition in Canada. We pride ourselves in hosting fun and encouraging events for dancers of all levels. We have continually changed with the times to make our events unique. We are looking forward to the 2024 dance season to celebrate the talent and enthusiasm of the young dancers and the commitment and dedication of the studio owners. We love dance and can’t wait to share our 2024 season with you!

DIVISIONS FOR ALL DANCERS:

We have divisions for all dancers. Whether your students train a couple hours per week and love to perform on stage, are competitive or in full competitive programs. From beginner dancers to dancers with years of experience, from rural, small town/city, small studios to big city large studios, we have divisions for all. Danceworks/CADF celebrates all levels of dance!

PROFESSIONAL ADJUDICATORS:

Professional adjudicators at all our events. Our experienced adjudicators are carefully selected to ensure a fun, encouraging and educational event for all.

VIDEO ADJUDICATION:

We know video adjudications are a valuable teaching tool for your students, allowing the dancers to see what they need to work on and hear the adjudicators positive critiques, so they can continue to move forward with their training. After each of our events your studios video adjudications and scores are posted right to your DCG secure studio account.

FREE MEDIA:

We love making memories with all of our attending studios. Media is provided for each routine for all dancers and parents. Studio owners – you also get a copy of all your media.(Download the DanceComp Genie Dakiki App from the app store).

ADJUDICATOR SHOUT OUT AWARDS:

Danceworks/CADF Shout Out Awards are presented at each adjudication session. One or more Shout Out Awards will be selected by the adjudicator based on the entries that made an impact on them and are awarded at each session before Medal Standings and Placement awards are presented. Shout Out Awards are not based on scores.

CHOREOGRAPHY AWARDS:

Danceworks/CADF Choreography Awards for groups are presented at each adjudication session. Our adjudicators will select one or more choreography awards based on group performances from each session. Top Choreography Award in each Tier Division will be presented at the final awards presentations.

TOP FIVE & TOP TEN AWARDS:

Top Five and Top Ten Awards for Solo, Duo/Trio, Group/Lines and Large Lines in all Age Divisions, Tier Divisions, and Level Divisions will be presented on stage as results become available throughout the event. Please check in your program for presentation times.
ALL TOP FIVE AND TOP TEN AWARDS for Solos, Duos/Trios, Groups/Lines and Large Lines are eligible for the GRAND CHAMPION SHOWDOWN EVENT.

OVERALL AWARDS:

Danceworks/CADF Overall Awards are awarded in each Tier Classification for Solo, Duo/Trio, Small Group, Large Group/Line, Large Lines, Most Potential, & Choreography. Overall Awards are presented after the Showdown Group Performances.

ALL OVERALL AWARD RECIPIENTS ARE ELIGIBLE FOR THE GRAND CHAMPION SHOWDOWN EVENT.

STUDIO STAND OUT AWARDS:

High Score Group for 12 years & Under & 13 years & Over from each studio will be invited back to compete in the Showdown Group Challenge and presented with the Studio Stand Out Award. ALL STUDIO STAND OUT RECIPIENTS ARE ELIGIBLE FOR THE GRAND CHAMPION SHOWDOWN EVENT.

SHOWDOWN GROUP CHALLENGE:

We wrap up each of our events with the Showdown Group Challenge. Studio Stand Out Groups from each studio are invited back to hit the stage one more time to re-compete for additional cash awards and prizes. Our adjudicators have the option of inviting additional groups. Additional information will be sent to the studios with the finalized schedule for each event.

GRAND CHAMPION SHOWDOWN EVENT:

Our final event of the season. To qualify, entries must have entered in any of our 2024 events.

EARLY BIRD DISCOUNT:

Register early to take advantage of our Early Bird Discounted Rates. Save on your entries when you register and submit payment by December 1st.

EARLY SCHEDULING:

We provide our schedule at least 1 month in advance. Usually we have schedules out long before the minimum 1 month as we know your parents need to plan their schedules.
